We bought our house just over a year ago now. Its a 30's house with bags of potential and we are currently working our way through each room. We have uncovered some gorgeous period features, and the best, well, woodblock flooring-I repeat, WOOD BLOCK flooring. For those that love the original details, you will know that this was like Christmas. We hired a sander and the hard work commenced and the finished result is just stunning.
So began the thoughts on how to decorate the room! where to start when you need to combine the tastes of two and completely start a fresh.
My other half has a love for quality wood as well as the retro style. I however, have a great love for shabby chic/country as well as industrial bohemian. So here comes the dilema... How do ewe combine these styles?
I have found three images that I love, each represents a style that I have mentioned.
First up, we have my favourite. Its be pinched from the instagram account Hygge_for_home.
I have had the pleasure of meeting Reena, who owns this amazing account and this beautiful beautiful home. She has an amazing eye for design and her home shows this in abundance. A lovely person and fellow mummy also. Love her style. Please pop across and have a visit if you haven't done so yet, you will not be disappointed.
Next up, is a picture taken from the lovely website that is www.rockmystyle.co.uk.
This kitchen is just stunning. We have an island similar to this and have a overhang which we use for a breakfast bar also and our tiles are very similar to these. So fresh and clean...and those cup handles!
And last we have this picture. I am not sure of its origins but I found it on google. I searched, industrial kitchens. We exposed a wall in our kitchen/dining room and we found a stunning red brick fireplace like the one in this kitchen.
So my question to you, can i combine these three styles and if so, can you add your comments and pictures of potential ideas that would be much appreciated.
Im an now off to continue my mood board of my ideas...i love it too much, just need to start making some progress.
Have a great evening all, Jess xxx
